AMMAN (JT) –– Al Rai Arabic daily newspaper on Wednesday celebrated its 39th anniversary.
Issued upon a Cabinet decision on May 18, 1971, the first copy of the newspaper hit newsstands on June 2, 1971.
Al Rai is a publication of the Jordan Press Foundation (JPF), which also publishes The Jordan Times and Hatem children’s monthly magazine.
The JPF was established as a private shareholding company in 1971, becoming a public shareholding company in 1986.
Al Rai, the most read Arabic daily in the Kingdom, also enjoys the largest share of advertisements in the country.
Last year, Al Rai’s daily circulation stood at 90,000 and the total number of household and commercial subscriptions at 12,000, excluding subscriptions by embassies, airlines and hotels.
The daily version of Al Rai newspaper currently ranges from 56-142 pages.
On May 1, 2009, Al Rai issued a weekly newspaper for advertisements distributed across the capital and in commercial centres in cities across the governorates.
On August, 1, 2008, Al Rai launched its e-journal called Minbar Al Rai.
